Squeak Bake - Blender Addon

There is finally an addon to add sound to your HardSurface animations.

For now it only adds NLA soundtracks based on changes in rotation for a specified axis (when the object is changing the rotation direction or when it starts rotating, best for screeching metal on metal action)

The addon will soon have more options to add sound while in action or on changes of action, to ad tracks for movement (best for sliders, actuators, hydraulics).

    This is not an add-on in the UPBGE you can set sound to an object along with other settings in the logic editor. sadly i feel this version of blender needs more love.

    • Sorry for that, UPBGE is not really a blender version is just based on an old blender version that is discontinued and based on older python version. Anyway this add-on is based on baking the sound and works only with "Baked rotation animatio" (no fcurve animations), I don't think it was to helpful for a game engine.

  2. I suppose you could create a digital soundboard with sliders and knobs - drivers to tie volume to multiply slider position against distance from speaker to camera, driver to slider for pitch, and switch to squeak bake.

    Though I don't know how well Blender handles tons of overlapping sounds. But it'd be a possibly convenient way to watch sound effects play out inside Blender in the absence of a fully fledged sound studio software.

    Perhaps drive the development of the add-in into that direction?

    • Thank your for the suggestion. I know you can ad drivers to simulate what the Speaker object does but i feel that it (the Speaker) needs just a bit of love from the blender developers and it will be able to do so much more. Imagine using animation nodes to drive the audio from the animation and not just the animation from the audio, Use collisions as drivers for the sound and some randomize to a playlist of foot steps.

      This addon is more of a proof of concept. I will develop it farther in this direction for now, and i will see later on how the development goes.

    • Your ideea stuck in my mind so i'm working right now on adding options in the video sequencer so you can duplicate a Soundclip to the motion of an object, and you can add your drivers or just render the audio and use it for a speaker object. i hope it would be ready for the version 2 of the addon. Only in the Sequencer i can change the duration of a sound track and hopefully there will be an option to add sound for the duration of the action (in motion). Thank you again.

  3. Version 2 is out and it has more features and also a Sequencer option so you can add your sound to action directly in the sequencer.
