Eevee Scifi Animation (with project files)

4

Davide Tirindelli writes:

Hi everyone, just finished a short scifi animation done in eevee as a personal project to stretch my skills a bit further. All suggestions for improvement are, as always, much welcome!

I also made the project files available on gumroad, with the full eevee lighting setup.

Hope you like the video, and hope that the files might be somehow useful to you, and thank you all for taking a look :-)

  1. Hey Davide,
    modeling, shading, lighting looks great!
I would improve camera animation if possible.
Have you tried cuts instead of fades?
And check Overscan in Render Properties/Film to avoid screen space effects disappearing close to the edges!

    • Thank you very much for the feedback!

Yes i'm still learning how to properly place cameras, and how to move them around nicely. This is already an improvement over my earlier tests (on this scene), but i still have a lot to learn :-)

The first thing i tried were actually cuts, but they felt too hard and didn't fit the music and the atmosphere so i tried fades and i felt they work better in this animation.

And i didn't know about overscan, thank you for the suggestion! i'll definitely use it in the next animations

  2. Nice work, Davide!
Design, color harmony, atmosphere and lighting makes an interesting view.
You have the heart of an artist.
I hope to see more of your works in the future.
    Keep up the good work!

    • Thank you very much Mihai, much appreciated :-)! Some other people commented saying they like the feel in this animation, i'll probably do a few more with a similar atmosphere, but trying to raise the bar with a bit more details and also some more movement happening.

I have a couple of ideas already in mind, let's hope they end up looking nice ;-)

      Thank you again, really!
