BCON 2020 Is Coming! Here's what you need to know

1

In less than 24 hours, the yearly Blender Conference event will launch. Of course, due to Covid-19 it'll be radically different than in the previous years and it won't even be a real conference. But, BCON was always more about the people: meeting old friends and making new ones and re-securing the ties that make us into this wonderful community. And this year won't be any different.

When to open your BCON Comfort Box

Part of the BCON experience will come to you this year in the form of the 'Comfort Box', a surprise box with a big warning not to open it until October 30. All we know so far is that it will contain a T-shirt, Stroopwafels (a Dutch cookie delicacy), stickers and more.

Put it next to your bed or on your breakfast table and open it first thing in the morning! It's like a Christmas present waiting for you, bringing a little fun to your day. There's no specific time, and you don't need to wait. If your calendar says it's October 30, you're good to go!

You can share pictures of the arrival of your BCON box and its unboxing on Blender Artists - make try to make it extra personal :)

When to tune in to the BCON 2020

At 6PM CET (Amsterdam) a live video will start where Blender artists around the world talk about their year. You'll see many familiar names and faces talking about their life and the role that Blender plays in it. Everyone made a video of max. 2 minutes to tell their story.

The video should be between 1.5 and 2 hours long and while you can watch it 'live', you can watch it at any other time too.

It will appear on the official Blender Youtube channel, and of course we will share a live feed here on BlenderNation too.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
