Sculpt Mode Update: New Dynamic Area Mode for Cloth Brush

1

Pablo Dobarro has just committed a new patch adding a "dynamic area" mode for his signature project, the cloth brush. This makes the using the cloth brush much less of a hassle with high poly meshes, without being constrained to a fixed simulation area.

Pablo achieves this by dynamically enabling PBVH nodes for the simulation as the brush moves, meaning only the required vertices are simulated at any given time and then blended with the rest of the mesh.

This opens up new avenues for detailing using the cloth brush, allowing it to work on high poly production quality meshes out of the box.

  1. This is very powerful stuff. If only performance would be half decent already, otherwise all this is for nothing.
Looking forward to trying out those sculpting optimizations in next version, if they'll be ready and included.
