Julius spotted a video by Der Spiegel, a big German news show, about Criminal Clans in germany. They used it to match 3d scanned suspects with persons on CCTV recordings by rigging them in Blender.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). It wasnt Der Spiegel who used Blender they only reported about it.

Its interesting the crime they actually help to solve is the theft of the gold coin "Big maple leaf" from the Bode Museum in Berlin.
