Weight Paint for Beginner (4 parts series)

2

Todor Nikolov writes:

This is a tutorial series about Weight Painting in Blender. Ultimately, the focus is on painting bone weights for your character rigs.

I wanted to make it very beginner-friendly and I go in a lot of detail. You'll find all four parts below.

  • Part 1 is all about Vertex Groups which are the basis of weight painting.
  • Part 2 is an Overview of Weight Paint mode, its' tools, and settings.
  • Part 3 is all about Painting Bone Weights. I demonstrate an easy to follow Workflow and best practices. I also show how to paint weights for a character rigged with Rigify.
  • Part 4 is a Summary/Overview of the whole process (basically a condensed 5-minute version of the first three parts)

If you struggle with specific aspects of weight painting, leave a comment. I'll probably extend this series with more advanced topics and common problems.
