Hello Blender Artists!

Here is my animated short film "Sugar - A Bittersweet Journey".

Share the movie if you like!

"Sugar - A Bittersweet Journey" tells the story of an extraterrestrial exploring the universe for sugar in order to rescue his beloved planet. Ever since I was a little boy, I was fascinated by the concept, that we are not alone in the universe. I kept asking myself if there are other beings like us. My goal was to create an extraterrestrial character very different, yet so similar to us; someone with problems, needs and dreams aswell.

The story shows, that no matter how far you venture into deep space, your home will always be the place you cherish most. For just this purpose, the alien, Mr.Green, has undertaken his vast travels. The production took place at the hamburg university of applied sciences troughout 7 semesters (about 4 years). The CGI was created in blender, the production´s primary 3d animation software.

The sounddesign and music were produced at the university´s sound and foley studio, the Tonlabor Haw Hamburg. The film was animated in 16:9 aspect ratio and has a runtime of about 7 minutes. I directed, wrote and created the cgi for the film. The sound design was made by Xuecong Chen and the music by Yinjun Zhang.

This film was my bachelor's thesis at the Haw Hamburg.

I am a Director and 3D Artist from Hamburg, Germany. At the age of 13 I came across 3D animation, allowing me to create worlds beyond my imagination. Soon, I began teaching computer graphics at my high school and started my journey in the field, doing freelance jobs for several clients and founded HumanArtStudio.de. These various experiences, allowed me to absorb as much as I could, which led me to direct the CGI short film: "Sugar - A Bittersweet Journey" (7 minutes, 2020.) A Sci-Fi adventure about an extraterrestrial, scanning the whole universe for sugar, in order to rescue his beloved planet. I tought 3D Modeling at the Hamburg University for Applied Sciences and worked there as a 3D drone designer. (Project: InTheAir - Drone education and research). I never stop learning and strive for improving my skills every day. Feel free to contact me. E-mail: [email protected]

  1. Unfortunately I read the pompous bio first so I was quite disappointed by the low quality of the CGI and the poor story telling... There very little visionary and extremely disciplined.

    • What a needlessly mean comment!

This is a *student* film and the bio is a guy looking for a job, so of course he's bragging as EVERYONE does on a CV.

      • You didn't read the original bio so don't talk! In the original bio he presents himself as a visionary movie director [sic] who is extremely disciplined [sic] and because of that was hired to work for a prestigious university to do 3d modelling, blablabla. There is a reason why there are no comments on this page about the movie itself compared to another short movie published the same day.
