Hey everyone,
I'm Sam and I'm the creator of Super Parallax - a parallax mapping tool for Blender. :)
Since its release ~4 months ago, Super Parallax 0.1 has gone down well as a nifty way of adding 3D depth to materials without the slowdown and memory consumption of the subdivision and displacement modifier workflow.
After a lot of work, I'm really chuffed to announce that Super Parallax 0.2a is here: it's completely overhauled into an addon that makes the parallax workflow much easier and smoother.
I've really been trying to push the limits of what a Blender parallax shader can do and so far we've got the following coming to v0.2:
- Curved surface support
- Accurate silhouettes
- A linear + binary search algorithm that is very robust to artefacts and utilises the shader nodes more efficiently
- An arbitrary number of iterations for complete control over performance & quality
- Easy mapping for parallax surfaces - scale, position & rotate without distorting the parallax effectThe goal is to be able to use parallax shader displacement instead of traditional tessellation displacement and save resources, achieving the same results.
Hopefully in the future we can see things like true self shadowing and vertex-quadric based relief mapping coming!
You can get more info from the Blender Market page here.
I'm selling it for a slightly reduced price while the new addon is in its early days and would really appreciate feedback for future updates. I also donate some of the profits to Blender and the rest allows me to keep on adding updates :)
Thanks for taking interest and Happy Blendering!
