Daz to Blender Bridge: How to use the official script

7

Nazzareno Giannelli writes:

A few days ago, Daz 3D released four different scripts that connect Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D and Blender to Daz Studio in order to bring high quality, fully rigged and fully shaded characters into our 3d software of choice.

In this tutorial, we will see how to install and use this powerful bridge between Daz Studio and Blender 2.8+. We will be able to bring a fully rigged Genesis 8 character, modify the shaders, pose the character, and even create new morph targets we can then send back to Daz.

  1. Hi, Thanks for the information! However, I have use Mac OS and I am not sure how to install the add-on to blender since the downloads and files set-up is very different from Windows. Would it be possible to post a tutorial of that part for Mac users?

    • Yes, I too need this. It's getting frustrating seeing the lack of MAC OS tutorials online. It's an entire community being left out, no one has the extra money to go and buy a high-quality Windows computer just to animate.

      • I just found the location and way to install it on my mac:

Either use spotlight search and type DTB, u should find it here more easily
        OR
        go to /Users/xx/Library/Application Support/Blender Foundation/Blender/BLENDER_VERSION/scripts/addons

You actually need to zip the DTB folder to be able to install it in Blender (super weird), following this tutorials' steps, but if in Blender u click to install the compressed file it actually works.
        good luck guys!

  2. I installed the DAZ to Blender Bridge, exported the character and imported it to Blender. The hair of the character is correcly imported, but the character itself is only white. No Material has a texture file in it. No diffuse map, no normal, bump, specular, metallic......
I tried to run Blender as administrator. No change.
Blender version: 2.82 and 2.83 DAZ version 4.12
    OS: Windows 10
