Advanced Glass Shader in Eevee

With Blender Eevee it's hard to achieve a good looking glass shader. Here is my approach with a glass of whiskey.

You can get this Advanced Glass Shader Setting on my Gumroad for free.

  1. Heads up: the shader is NOT free. The free gumroad product is just jpg of the node group and some of the values are hidden behind group input values so anyone who attempts to recreate it will have to guess what values would be appropriate. I assume the idea is that we'll buy the scene with the shader once we realize the zip file does not include a blend file, nor all of the settings to recreate the shader, but I dislike feeling manipulated or having my time wasted, so it won't work on me.

There's really no need to send us all the way to gumroad for a jpg that could just as easily have been uploaded here, with a note that the shader itself is for sale on gumroad, and an appropriate link.

    • Shader setting is for free to download as jpg and you don't need buy it on Gumroad.
I don't offer blender shader node group here, but only important know how. If you want specific Glass of Whiskey scene you have option to purchase it.
What is behind node group is only color of glass and specific values. Every shader can have custom values, that is principle of that.

Reason why you should go on Gumroad and download at this site is to get free upcoming updates. Thank you for your feedback.

  2. I spent a couple of hours reproducing the node group that is shown in the image and after triple checking the setup, I never could get it to work. It works as a mirror shader, but not as a glass shader. I found it much easier to create glass in Eevee by using the tutorial below. Just changing a couple of settings in Blender I could use either the Glass BSDF or the Principled BSDF and get great looking (natural looking) glass. Hope this helps anyone else.

      • Granted, the monetary cost for your file isn't much, but there's a simpler way to get better results for free from something already built into Blender. Plus, it might have taken me 2? hours to reproduce and test the node setup in the image you had in the zip file. And after all that I still didn't understand what was going on or how to get it to actually work. The tutorial I found and linked to in the previous post took me less than 5 minutes to go through and actually produced a glass material. The node setup I copied from your image never did produce a glass material. I'm sure you worked hard creating what you did, but there's a better, free way of doing the same thing in Blender by default. Your effort and contribution hasn't gone unnoticed.

        • It is totally fine if you have found a simple shader that suits your project. If you're looking for a more advanced shader with more possibilities, you have an option here.
