In this tutorial, you will learn how to rig a car in 2 minutes using Blender 2.83 animation software. If you want a text version of this tutorial visit my website.

WHAT YOU NEED
1. Blender version 2.8 or higher
2. A blend car model with wheels separated from the body
3. Blender Rigacar addon. Available at GitHub... (Thanks to David Gayerie of digicreatures.net for this amazing addon)

Rename the wheels and body control objects as follows to let the add-on discover the structure of your model:

Front left wheel to DEF-Wheel.Ft.L
Front right wheel to DEF-Wheel.Ft.R
Rear left wheel to DEF-Wheel.Bk.L
Rear right wheel to DEF-Wheel.Bk.R
Body parent or control object rename to DEF-Body
Front right brake caliper to DEF-WheelBrake.Ft.R
Front left brake caliper to DEF-WheelBrake.Ft.L
Rear right brake caliper to DEF-WheelBrake.Bk.R
Rear left brake caliper to DEF-WheelBrake.Bk.L

  1. Nice. I had a car rig add on for 2.79 and below but it malfunctions in 2.83 so this will be useful. Does this only work with 4 wheeled vehicles? I’m in need of a rig for a six wheeled truck with a 4 wheel trailer.

  2. how could you edit the generated bone and rig because that would fix all my problems as that is what is causing the problems. the generated rig is correct but the green circle position for the wheel is incorrect therefore the wheels spin not form the origin.
