I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

What I still don't understand is why are we keep create smoke, river, ocean, water, oil from scratch? These are known things. How many different smoke do we see in real time. Only a finite amount. We shouldn't be creating these from scratch. Imagine a hundred years from now, we still have the same blank smoke domain.
Does it mean Blender could use sim templates?

I agree.I am all to keep the capability for going to the guts and change it if we want to something crazy. But the baseline start should exist for planet earth physics.
