When you render using a static camera, instead of rendering the entire animation as-is, you can do it more efficiently. By only rendering the moving parts as an animation and the rest as still frames, you save a lot of render time (or money in case you're using a render farm).

Yeah i read about something like this before. There is an addon called animated renderborder which is perfect for this work. I believe you can look it to the target and the renderborder will automatically update in each from while following that target within the frame
That's a great tip! Using that could have definitely made this example render even faster.
I remembered this from a couple years ago while I was busy updating an addon for an external render engine. The addon is on BlenderMarket but can also be found on gutHub
