How to model an Exterior scene with fSpy

Masaru writes:

Hello there!

This time I’ll bring you a basic workflow in modeling an exterior scene with fSpy. It’s an amazing software to guess the perspective of an image, especially in archviz. It still has some problems but don’t worry, I’ll show you how to fix it in Blender with just a few clicks!

  1. Thank you very much for this introductory video to the fSpy software and its use in Blender.
I believe that your camera problems actually stem from the fact that you (accidentally) inverted your world axis during the setup of the lines on top of your reference image.
Blender is expecting the positive Z-axis to be pointed upwards with respect to your scene. You ended up with the Z-axis pointed downwards, so naturally you had to correct the camera position in Blender after you imported the fSpy file.
In order to avoid this situation you would simply need to exchange the position of the red and green lines during the setup of your perspective. Thus, the red lines should have been used on the RIGHT side of the image, the green lines on the LEFT. Had you done so, you would have found everything to be correct in Blender.

    • Hi, thank you for your feedback. I do make that mistake all the time and my solution is to rotate the camera in Blender. Even when I switched the red and green line it makes no different, the Z axes is still pointing down.

Recently I found another solution which I think it's clearly a best way to do it, is the Principal Point in fSpy (how can I missed?). So basically you can change the PP to Manual and then align it with vanishing points. It solves all the problems!

I wonder If I have to make another tutorial to update this?
