Create a 2D face rig for characters in blender. (No Textures)

Hey there!

I'm new here, so let me quickly introduce myself. I'm Menno van Roon, born and raised in Rotterdam (NL). Most of the time I do work as a motion designer. I started a channel where I share stuff I learned and that have been helpful to me during professional projects I worked on.
I would never claim to be the all knowing artist, in fact I still learn everyday. That is why I started this channel, to grow as an artist and help others grow with me.

I would like to share this video that is most popular on my channel. I was experimenting to find a different style of rigging 2d faces on a 3d character. Then I came up with this:

I just copied the description of the video ;) :
We used to work with the UV Wrap modifier or other texture based solutions. In this blender tutorial we’re gonna create a 2D face rig for character animation that is mesh based. Create meshes to add a mouth and eye's to the face. Then we create a rig to give the animator some animator friendly controls to use.

Hope you have a nice day.
