Simply Cloth - Addon

Vjaceslav Tissen writes:

Hello my name is Vjaceslav Tissen and I love Blender!

I have been creating clothes for Blender for some time and while creating the cloths I noticed that there are many parameters to be set. It didn't bother me much, because it was fun to learn them and see what happens. However, this can take a lot of time and so I came up with an idea and now I have implemented the idea and introduce Simply Cloth to you! Create Cloth faster and easier!

What exactly is Simply Cloth?

SimplyCloth is a helper Addon for everyone who works with cloth in Blender!

With this addon you can create Cloths faster and easier than before. You don't need a lot of previous knowledge with the Cloth physics settings! You can simply select a presets and quickly adjust them to your needs. Of course some basic understanding of Blender would be nice.

The addon is just a help tool to set up quickly and test your cloth objects!

Check out the overview video!

  1. Aaaand I bought it despite having a Marvelous Designer license... Don't get me wrong - Marvelous is great, but I just hate switching between software. It's a wase of time. I've sold my Zbrush license a while ago as Blender's sculpting tools are mostly mature enough for my game dev purposes (I miss working multires though...). Blender cloth sim is also powerful enough (especially with the recent addition of Pablo Dobarro's cloth sculpt brush!). I hope this addon will speed up my workflow even more :).

    • How do you like SImply Cloth? I was intrigued by the video. The results look good I only wonder how easy is to set up the cloth to achieve the desired result.

The problem in general with cloth simulations is that there are quite a few settings to go through and more often than not one simple tweak can heavily affect the sim.

I'm curious to hear what other users who have bought this add-on have to say. It is not for the price, only I want to avoid buying other add-ons that I end up not using.

      • Hi Andrew! I actually like it a lot. You can set up basic cloth sim with one click. The same for cloth collisions. That speeds up things a lot. You also have a number of presets to start from. It's a good kickstart for your sims. It doesn't change how the simulation work - so still Marvelous Designer is, of course, better. But I still think the add-on is worth ist's price, as you can create things like curtains, pillows, rugs, and blankets very fast without the need to switch between software or blindly tweak the Blender's cloth sim parameters. If you would like me to test something for you I can do it.

        • Thank you so much, Maciek!

Good to hear it's working great for you and it's easy to setup.
And thanks for offering your help to do some tests for me!
I don't have anything specific at the moment. I'm slowly transitioning to Blender from C4D. I was also considering ClothFX for Cloth tearing which I think is something Simply Cloth doesn't take care of. From my understanding is more meant for clothing and architectural stuff (kinda like Marvelous Designer).
But the price is affordable, I might consider buying it!

          Thanks again.

  2. That's true - Simply Cloth is just for speeding up the cloth setup process. It doesn't really offer any new functionality over the standard Blender's cloth sim. It just makes things easier and faster. Cheers!

  3. Vjaceslav Tissen on

Right! MACIEJ understood perfectly. It should help to set up the Cloth objects and speed up the workflow. The presets are also often a help for this. Additionally there are the sliders, which allow you to get the desired properties of the Cloth simulation even faster. For example, if you want to have more wrinkles and less stiffness, you can pull the two sliders and play the simulation again or even possible to change parameters during the simulation!

Thank you for liking the addon MACIEJ! I wish you a lot of fun with it also for those who will get it.

Thanks to Bart and the Blender Team!

    Best Regards
