Are triangles always bad? No, but for deforming objects like characters you definitely want to use quads, otherwise the deformations don't look optimal. There's a quick trick that lets you convert a tris-only object to a quad-only object. Check it out!

Nice and thx for doing but its news most aleady know, short maybe the face menu. what I'd MUCh rather know, is how to get blender to rn without LAG on meshes that are 2.3mil triangles or more..atm blender has HUGE lag , where 3ds max 2020 does NOT. So , I can't use blender for at least,that mesh that is highly critical to my workflow.
Not sure why anyone would want to work on meshes in Edit Mode at such a resolution. I normally tweak meshes in Sculpt Mode which is a whole lot faster. Nevertheless, it's one of the dev's top priorities for 2020. Check it out https://code.blender.org/2020/01/2020-blender-big-projects/
