Video: TreeHead Alien Creature Design

UnknownDino writes:

The idea behind this project was to create an alien giant creature with a tree like growth in the place of it's horns. It started with a few 2D sketches and from modeling to sculpting/multires/retopo/texturing/rigging/animation/environment/matte painting and final renders in Eevee, all are done in Blender 2.8 and 2.81. I'm still shocked by what Eevee can achieve in a fraction of the time. I worked on this personal project for about two months, a few hours every night.
I hope you enjoy it and learn some more about the capabilities of Blender.

More details on the project:

The environment is heavily inspired by underwater flora.

  • The 4 eyed design is far from original, so i decided to give to the small pair of eyes on the top a different sensory function. In this imaginary planet, dangerous sun flares penetrate the atmosphere irregularly every few days. Some of the creatures have a second pair of eyes pointed slightly upwards capable of sensing the slightest electromagnetic changes millions of kilometers out of the atmosphere of the planet so that they can find cover in time before the deadly flares reach the surface (not sure if this makes sense scientifically).
  • Another hidden detail is the fact that there is more than one creature living in the same body and both organisms have a symbiotic relationship.

    • Calling it "Big production quality" makes me sooo happy!
The fact that all I needed was a pc and almost no need to jump to other softwares, shows how powerful blender has become.
