If you're thinking over whether you could build your own render farm, or are even just curious about what a render farm is (hint, it makes rendering faster), then this tutorial was created with you in mind!

In this video tutorial, I'll walk you through a really simple setup with no complicated configuration or assumed knowledge of networking or IT concepts required.

All you need is a couple of computers at your home or office, a wifi or ethernet network you can connect them to, and an addon we wrote (which is free)... oops, and Blender of course! We use 2.81 in the tutorial, but it works just the same in 2.79b and 2.80.

I'm a software engineer, I've worked on numerous technologies over the past 10 years. I started out working on full motion flight simulators and then worked with embedded systems. I now work on building an add-on to support rendering using multiple computers over internet/local networks. I started using blender in 2009 and have done small projects with it since then, however, crowd render, our network rendering add-on is by far the biggest adventure with Blender to date.
