My latest personal project. Animation and all the directing stuff was made by a super animator Sofia Grigoreva as a Animschool graduation project. I took the characters animation alembics from her Maya scenes and made it better-than-pixar-eyecandy short :)
Only two naked animated character meshes came from Maya via alembic. I did mapping, texturing, grooming, shading and replaced the eyes with my own realistic. Did all the environment, simulation, render, soundFX and compositing in Blender.
Notice that the dog gets wet when jumps into the water and leaves footprints when gets out. That's all done with dynamic paint - awesome tool!
The sounds were partialy taken from the original school video and from freesound.org.
Enjoy!

Great animation and render. Just a small critique. I think the boy's cloth penetrates the hairs when the dog drag him.
True! Unfortunately I couldn't fix that as the animation sources had the t-shirt overextended through the head model. So I had the hair penetrating the t-shirt, or we would see the head skin through the t-shirt if I move the hairs to the sides. The "naked" in the description meant "meshes only". The boy came with animated clothes.
Ciouldnt you use a particle texture for weight in that part?
I really tried every method, but the mesh in that place is massively overstretched. Accept it as it is :)
Thank you so much. What an inspiration to those of us who want to create something beautiful.
Very nice animation and render! impressive work!!!
Great animation skils, kind of short story and weird end
Great animation. Water with sound brilliant
Awesome. Nicely made modelling and animation. Thanks for sharing. A movie made in blender That is great.
Would not be possible to animate in Blender?
This is the Animschool project. They teach Maya.
