Short - The Rescue

My latest personal project. Animation and all the directing stuff was made by a super animator Sofia Grigoreva as a Animschool graduation project. I took the characters animation alembics from her Maya scenes and made it better-than-pixar-eyecandy short :)

Only two naked animated character meshes came from Maya via alembic. I did mapping, texturing, grooming, shading and replaced the eyes with my own realistic. Did all the environment, simulation, render, soundFX and compositing in Blender.

Notice that the dog gets wet when jumps into the water and leaves footprints when gets out. That's all done with dynamic paint - awesome tool!

The sounds were partialy taken from the original school video  and from freesound.org.
Enjoy!

    • True! Unfortunately I couldn't fix that as the animation sources had the t-shirt overextended through the head model. So I had the hair penetrating the t-shirt, or we would see the head skin through the t-shirt if I move the hairs to the sides. The "naked" in the description meant "meshes only". The boy came with animated clothes.
