Pro Sidebar Add-on

Andrew Peel writes:

The Pro Sidebar add-on was developed to help simplify and speed up my workflow while working with Blender.

It provides me with a simplified interface, some helpful new tools, and an asset management engine all available from the Sidebar in 3D Viewport.

The video below will give you a quick overview of how it works.

I hope others in the community can find it helpful.

  1. I don't like these types of addons. I don't use Blender as much as the pros, so I rather just use Blender as is. If I use one of these addon, I won't know where anything is, after these types of addons become unsupported.

  2. Blender is a mess of shortcuts and 'hidden features'.
If a addon groups all the available tools in the right place, and has proper tooltips, it will help speeding up your workflow.

  3. Like the look of this. Especially the enhanced Blender shortcuts like the camera creation and the asset managers.
Some wild suggestions from top of my head:

    1. Add in a pivot/origin quick adjustment tool (top, bottom, left, right, centre etc) so we don't have to faff about.
    2. A quick mask rendering feature (select object, render image or anim with everything else as masked)
    3. Add Selected Object, Collection or Material to Asset Manager?
    4. Was there a Scene asset manager? e.g. quickly load a template Studio Scene, 4 point lighted scene, lightbox scene without having to append in your models again.
    5. HDR asset manager for loading quick HDR lighting.
    6. Management tab. New tab that allows you to add clever notes about a blend file. e.g. Allows you to add notes about a blender file like client, date, last rendered location. Also a sub category for "Needs fixing" with a description and when you click an entry it (optionally) selects the scene object(s) too.

    I got carried away, sorry!
