My name is Tihomir Lazarov and I have been published before on blendernation.com for which I am grateful.

I have published a VFX breakdown of one of the latest films I worked on. It's a music video designed as a short film drama. Here's the video:

And here's the VFX breakdown:

The scenes in that breakdown have been created and rendered in Blender. There are lots of other materials, such as timelapses from creating these scenes, like this example:

Let me know if you're interested in having a full post about this project.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. While the song didn't really grab me (though beautifully recorded) . . . the Blender 3D work is staggering! I'm blown away by the production value of the process using B3D. Fantastic job!!

    • Thank you. I appreciate your feedback. I'm always kind of "scared" when I show things I do with Blender, because during the process of creating it I frequently search for tutorials now how this or that is made, because I'm far from being proficient in 3D. I appreciate you didn't saw (or didn't mention) most of the flaws there :)

I'm in the same boat as Astro1Derboy......the song is pretty.....but .....not speaking the language....grin.....I'm blown away by the entire set up......live action, and Blender composition....... FAR OUT my friends...... great job.

I think you did an outstanding job on all the cgi....it's like opening up a whole world out there....any scene imaginable, you can create it. Again, WOW.

      • Thanks. Yes, it's comforting to know that in some cases you can save the production with VFX. Of course, there are limitations such as not having the hardware to be able to render 2-3 seconds of 3D animation in order to make the parallax more believable. Right now I use only 2D rendered scenes and this limits the camera movements I can make.

Definitely great. I spent a good deal of time wondering where the VFX were, which means you definitely nailed it for me.

    • I'm happy to read that Aaron. There are different opinions on that. Some say the VFX were too obvious (but after reading an article on the BTS). The main goals is that most of the viewers don't see them, but just enjoy the story. The VFX were used as a cover-up of problems with locations we had. They were not meant to steal the show and I'm glad you didn't find them obvious.
