Physical Starlight and Atmosphere Addon

Knowing how essential outdoor lighting is and the fact that Blender has no proper skylight and sunlight systems available (not built-in nor in market), I made an addon for myself and my team. I’ve been using it for numerous projects and it started to take a shape of a product that others might benefit from too!

I have spent significant amount of my time making it, more than I'd love to admit, but I have managed to create an amazing time and money saver with it. With the addon you can generate any outdoors lighting conditions in minutes - day, night, fog, overcast, mars, gas giant, low orbit, etc.

"Physical Starlight and Atmosphere" is the result of 10 years of my fascination with atmospheric scattering and surrounding optical effects like rainbows, refraction, reflections. Addon is a full environmental simulator that takes inspiration of ‘sandbox’ game worlds and editors, bringing visual consistency between each and every object in the scene.

More information of the product you can find in the Blender Artists thread.

It is on sale now for reduced price, till the next update. I'm doing this as sort of "early access" till I get first user feedback and add proper documentation and FAQ sections.

I don't have the addon reel yet, but here's a development video showing a glimpse of what it is supposed to do.

  1. Definitely something needed, especially the transition from day to night (blue hour/golden hour). I will point out however that when the sun sets in the west, there is no red on the horizon to the east.

  2. I am trying to render a daylight to sunset animation with cycles, but it wo'nt render correctly in thinkbox deadline.
    Any idea why this happens?

      • Danny, do you know what the fix was? I'm running into this same exact issue on Render.ST - the sky settings don't get recomputed for each frame, so if the animation starts dark, it will stay dark. I don't have this problem on my local machine, so I'm curious what setting is preventing a night -> day animation in Render.st.

          • Marius I just finished a test render and I can confirm Physical Starlight is working beautifully on Render.St! Disclaimer: I'm not paid to endorse or sponsor Render.St but their support is amazing. In less than 24 hours from opening a support ticket they had Physical Starlight working on their platform. I cannot recommend Render.St enough. And this plugin!

        • Yeah i have send this problem also on the forum, and got answer from Martin that he changing it for the next update, So i am pationaly waiting for a new update :) For now i turned off Radiance settings under stars to fix the problem.

  3. Hi, i found this problem with the starmap. i was rendering with a render farm, and the skies turned reddish, purple.
Turnes out is was a missing texture. the only texture in this addon (starmap).

Is there a way you can change the directory of the textures inside this addon in the future?
