I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

    • The only corporations that are supporting Blender financially (so far) are those who have the most to gain in supporting Blender development--particularly those who benefit from Blender's open-source pipeline, and its growing studio reach.

That flies directly in the face of companies like Autodesk.

The FOSS community shouldn't fear the funding. Community support is great, and always has been for Blender. It's still community-based, community-targeted development.

But the substantial funding from larger companies will help Blender truly grow towards its highest potential with expedited development and greater scope.
