I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Thanks for putting this out into the world to allow us to manage the unused data properly.

The facility to delete unused data should be built into Blender. In most of the 3D applications I use just saving a file saves it without any unused data, so a save, quit and reload sequence will leave me with a clean working file. Blender is the only 3D application I use that doesn't have an easy way of doing this built in. When or if the developers address this you have shown them how to do it extremely well.
