This is a neat little trick you can use to make nice-looking materials with bump and shininess (roughness) from just a single JPEG texture. Very handy when photo sourcing materials, or just if you find a nice looking color texture that doesn't have any other maps.

  1. I never thought of using a separate node as a channel mask, that's a really smart way to go about getting a bit more control!
