This is one of my favorite renderer!
Octane Render is useless in production for the poor updates, for example Octane for Unity have very bad reviews for this problem.
Yes, everything depends on what you want to accomplish with it.
I find it excellent for moderately complex scene. I use it when I need high res render (such as 32k) quickly with photorealistic result.
