How to Disco - Animation Nodes Blender 2.8 Eevee

2

Blenderthings scattered a dancing crowd with Animation Nodes in Blender.

It took me one hour and 20 minutes until render ... rendering was done within 20 minutes - 4 to 7 seconds per frame with eevee - 250 frames total.. There are loads of unnecessary nodes and steps along the way so it was not good for a "normal" speednoding video - however, it was fun!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Great work! I made a similar thing a few months before but using just particles because 2.8 wasn't playing nice with AN at that time. I had to made different instances of each character with different dance variations and time displacements. I hope this could be made procedurally some time soon with function nodes (:
