I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

You have to subscribe to the cloud in order to get the scene, yes? I haven't played with 2.8 yet but am really looking forward to when I have time to.

  3. At the risk of being shot down, I think this is a poor choice of splash screen for this momentous new release of Blender. Yet again, it says all Blender is good for is making children's cartoons, like nothing has changed since Big Buck Bunny. The splash screen should show aspects of 3D and 2D character animation, architecture, hard body modelling, physics, rigging, Eevee, product visualization... This splash screen is a complete turn-off for anyone coming to Blender who wants to use it for technical purposes.

  4. Actually, I like the sense of freedom the image invokes. Like a child again in a new world filled with possibilities and powerful tools.
