Hi, my name is Jan and I help companies by creating short videos for their websites and internal use, mostly as a freelancer for agencies. I post daily one-minute tutorials for Blender users and wrote the popular "Blender Secrets" e-books.

  1. These tips are often useful or interesting, but the format is terrible. It's really irritating to have to watch through three times, clicking pause... play... pause... rewind... play... pause...rewind. While you are watching the Blender workspace, you miss the text changing above. Or if you read the text, you miss what just happened in the Blender workspace. And it runs too fast to be able to watch/read both at once.

Please just overlay the text on top of the Blender workspace, like any other tutorial.

    • Thanks for your feedback! I guess I just wanted to do something different and the format made sense for the square Instagram feed. Not sure if I'll change it now, but I'll think about it. Incidentally, the e-book I made is perhaps more your cup of tea ;-) No need to rewind there... it containts 100 tips now, and eventually will be 365 tips long (I will release free updates for customers from time to time) https://gumroad.com/l/IxofeY.

      • I agree that the format of the videos is uncomfortable. Still, you do not stop doing them :). They are already like the morning coffee. Thank you for the effort to make these videos.

        • Thanks! Good to have some feedback. It was just something I started making for Instagram, and I wanted it to be different from anything else. Glad you like it!

          • Always waiting for the tips just bought the book short, Sharp and s**t hot!

      • Aha, now I understand the strange format :-)
Incidentally, your "Extrude at a 90 Degree Angle" tip was just what I needed. The Shear function is one of those many features I had never discovered before in Blender.

  2. Keep getting this error on your youtube page. Watch your videos quite often, but haven't been able to for the past couple of days. Other youtube videos play fine.

    Error message I get:

An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: JKq_eFsbcFmKdGSr)

  3. Well, I like such format, because in blender window goes pretty much the same, that was told in text window, and text is huge and readable.
Blender viewport action can stand still 2-3 secs after text change, to and timing problem will be fixed.
