I have created a Group Node (Unfold Splines) which allows you to fold or unfold spline with the animation nodes in blender 2.8. The input spline or splines (or curves) can be a Curve Text Object or Curve Object of any shape. This group has default two folding shapes circular and spiral but I make this group node very general so that you can add your custom shape for folding. You can download it from Gumroad.
