"EEVEE is a replacement for Cycles."
- Is it? There are so many gorgeous demos floating around online that it’s clear that Eevee will be a real game changer. However, seeing only the results that look incredible can give the impression that it can be used for everything. I certainly hope to see real time photo realism as much as the next computer graphics nerd, but as of yet...that is not a reality.

Thanks for making this, been a little bothered by the number of people who seem to think Eevee is a total replacement for Cycles. It really isn't. It's awesome and I love it but lets keep it real.
Yeah, real-time renderers aren't replacing offline rendering methods, any time soon. They're simply two kinds of rendering, but each with unique advantages and inherent disadvantages.
Honestly, even in the near-future, I don't see this nature between the two rendering types changing.
Real-time rendering will continue to "cheat" at what offline rendering does better (but slower), and the results will still be obvious.
Expensive light calculations alone are something that pretty much ensures this.
well, I think Octane is pretty close to achieving real-time path tracing. So I'm optimistic in this regard.
The Link to CGCookie is blind
Indeed, the link appears to be broken. As a result, it redirects to a general CG Cookie landing page. I believe the article was meant to point to the following: https://cgcookie.com/live_streams/the-limits-of-rendering-with-eevee
