Video: How do Window Blinds work?

2

Jared Owen writes:

When I started this animation I had questions about how Window Blinds worked. I studied the mechanism on my own blinds and then I looked at a few other helpful websites. It turns out it really wasn't too hard to understand! I used drivers to the raising and tilting of the individual slats. For the strings I used bezier curves and the hook modifier to help me manipulate it.

This video was a lot of fun to animate - I hope you enjoy watching it!

  1. That is a extrem well done and interesting explanation!

It would be interesting to know how the various mechanisms are animated. Is it possible to animate the winding of a string? Unfortunately, I have so far only found videos on finished animations of window blinds ... Will you create a tutorial on the subject maybe? I would really appreciate it.

    Happy Blending ;)
