This works toward the origin-point median and not necessarily to the geometry. This is a helpful tip anyway!
Simply press "0" while still in preview mode (pink edges) and the cut will stick to the center.
Similarly, pressing "1" or "-1" will move the cut to one or the other edgeloop on the side, and fractions like "0.5" will move the cut halfway between the center and one of the side loops.
