Hey everyone!

I just released a new video, showing my progression as 3D Artist using Blender and Cinema 4D in 14 years (2004 - 2018). I also share some insights on how I started with Blender 15 years ago.

Enjoy!

  1. What an inspiring video. We two met at Blender Conference. I showed you my bavarian Beermug project. Maybe u remember. The project is sold. I´m printing money with this one :) Kidding!!! But like in your Video. Everday I learn. I fail. I´m frustrated. Get back on my feet and become better. Zachi, you did a great video! Luv it.

  2. Incredible story, and what a great source of inspiration for all those who just start in the world of design and computer animation. Never give up, and keep moving forward, learning and trying new techniques, in the end the results will speak for themselves.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

  3. Thanks for your story and for your wonderful and useful tutorials!
    There is one question.
You mentioned, that you switched from c4d to blender some times ago. That`s what i am thinking about at the moment.
What was your reason for that?

  4. Interesting story.

I started doing 3D in 2000 with a free version of Strata I got with a magazine.
I was immediately hooked! Upgraded to the full version after about a month with the free version.
I found Strata to have quite a few annoying limitations and started using Wings for modelling a lot of stuff.
Discovered Cinema 4D in 2003 and made the switch.
Looked at Blender and gave it a try, but I found the interface baffling and annoying in 2.4
As I'm a hobbyist, Cinema got to be a bit expensive and just when I needed it , Blender 2.5 was released and finally it had an interface I could work with. Been using it ever since.
I've used it for a few small web animations, as a design tool. I've been in the sign business since paint brushes and mahl sticks but now I'm almost exclusively doing computer stuff and I've used Blender to figure out complex installations for signs as well as using it as to show clients how my designs will actually look when finished. I recently did a mock-up for some large illuminated channel letters on a building that wasn't finished yet. I took it as quite the compliment that the image was used in the company's press releases for their new location. I've also designed cases for valve amplifiers that a friend of mine builds and output production files for CNC from them
Like you, my first 3D models were built from cardboard and glue - I built a Saturn 5 in 1969, completed just before the moon landing.
Blender is a thing of beauty!
I still do physical 3D projects but the recent theme has been long bows, strings and sets of arrows.
The main thing is KEEP CREATING!

  5. Hello Zach. I'm just about to turn 56 and like your action girls. Thank you for "Mastering Sculpting" as I gave it to myself for birthday :)

  6. Thank you for sharing your journey. I started with Blender 5 yrs ago. My goals always seem to be ahead of my skills. I guess that's what keeps you getting better. Great work. You are now a master.
