does VSCode can handle blender git repository (check in/out files) as well?
VSC has built in Git support. So it should.
Although that's totally unrelated to the Python scope and I don't know if VSC will handle such a large code base very well.
P.S.: Great! I now have time again because I was working on something similar:)
I've just been trying this out for my script upgrades to Blender 2.8; really great and has sped up my development time. I can see the breakpoints being of real use in the future.
Just FYI, I was trying to do this with blender 2.8 downloaded on December 23rd. I'd get an error when I tried to do Blender Start. I think there is a path length restriction. The folder names on the downloads are pretty big. I renamed the folder to b28 and put it at the C: directory base and everything worked.
