A side note, they're not just common operations for mesh Booleans (a.k.a. CSG) and other 3D tools, they're common Boolean logic and set theory operations - i.e., it's considered a form of math, existing loOoOooong before these software tools (long before software) existed.
This actually kinda looks useless. Weird how this got in 2.8 next to the other genuinely goof features
It's a shame this feature uses the top bar, as I've found the top bar is generally a waste of space in my workflow, so have it permanently hidden. Also, why does the tool bar on the left have nice coloured icons, at least when selected, but the Properties editor tab icons (which I need to use frequently), are all indistinct monochrome icons?
While I think those new operations are improving the tools we have to select, I think we lost something in the way:
