  1. nice tutorial , really helps with posting the shader set up
    can you confirm that hair transparency is broken with eeevee in blender 2.80 and 2.81 alpha
    would be nice to make the hair slighty transparent at the tips or roots to make it look softer, but the opacity just comes out black. same with transmission and subsurface effects

    marking the material as 'alpha blend' does not work all on hair particles. also does not work with hair info node
    I used a translucency shader which helps a little at the edges

    • If you haven't already gotten the answer, which I assume you have, I think the tip transparency is dependent on the hair shape settings in your particle settings. Mine came out being too transparent at the tips, and I had to increase the tip size ^_^'
