I wanted to share the final in my series of blog posts that I’ve been working on over the past twelve months that I hope will be of benefit to fellow aspiring VFX artists working with Blender.
Throughout the series I've walked through the process of generating scene referred values (effectively a wider dynamic range, more representative of real-world energy values of light) from the 8-bit video of a budget consumer camera and shared how this has a positive impact on compositing when integrating CG elements against background plates.
In my final post I compare some side-by-side examples of the benefit of working this way to create convincing CG composites.
Thanks must go to Troy Sobotka, the creator of Filmic Blender, for his mentorship throughout this journey.
