The Mask! Old Cycles work remade in Eevee

Hi, in this video I played with Eevee Render and the Blender 2.8 viewport modes, using an old model that I sculpted in 2.7 version. Of course he's The Mask, inspired by the comic book version.

I tried to match the original Cycles render with Eevee and I'm honestly pretty impressed by the quality of this render engine!

For some reason, I had to tweak the exposure to match the look, since eevee version looks a lot brighter than the cycles one. If you have any idea on why this is happening, please let me know in the coments!

  1. Eevee lights take their intensity settings from a different property than Cycles. See screenshot attatched, when Eevee is selected as a render engine, you control the intensity using the `Energy` parameter. In cycles, you tweak a color brightness value instead. Those intensities are not synchronised across the two render engines.

    • Yep, I noticed that. I manually set the same values and colors on both cycles and eevee though. I guess it's beacuse of the area light apparently being dimmed in cycles when increasing its scale, because of the energy distributed on the surface. Just an idea, not sure about that.

    • Thanks, I just used a sphere for the transparent part, and another deformed sphere with the iris texture inside. The shader on the outer sphere is pretty complex by the way, I used a procedural radial gradient texture to mix the sclera part with the transparent crystaline.
