Video: TASCOI - The Animated Sound Curve Object Instancer

2

A fascinating music video by Art Soft!

Hi, my new video is ready to start here. Made with the internal renderer (not Cycles!) of Blender 2.79 (64 Bit / Windows).

With the help of Blenders's animation nodes, there is an evaluation of the given curve object. This evaluation provides all 3D locations of all points of the current curve. At these points, the object instancer creates new cylinder objects. At the same time, there is a sound evaluation as well and the animation nodes checks the volume of the sound at each frame. Due to the volume values, the size of each cylinder is set. The louder the sound, the bigger the cylinder object. Very easy! Enjoy the video and happy blending with Blender 3D. Have fun...

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Nice concept and well done. The only thing I find distracting is the camera animation. It somehow fights with the motion on the path. My guess is that there is some kind of parent / child relationship to the path or a constraint used. If you bake that into animation curves and then clean them manually, you'll get a smoother camera animation and thus more focus on what happens along the path.
