Cheap Kinect as a Scanner for 3D Printing + Blender Tutorial

3D scanning is a lot of fun, but it usually requires a lot of tedious cleanup work afterwards - especially if you want to use the model for 3D printing. Here's an overview of the process in Blender.

This video shows my procedure of scanning a Person and preparing the scan for 3D Printing. It's not a modern method but I also show simple ways to fix big messy meshes in blender.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
