Hi, thx for the video. You talk about “Ctrl” + “Tab” being now assigned to the pie-menu between modes. If I’m not mistaken, previously that shortcut was assigned to navigating between workspaces (like in a web browser). Do you know what will be the new shortcut for navigating between workspaces ?
In case others are asking themselves the same question…
I got the answer from Pablo Vazquez in the Youtube comments. This is what he replied:
“Switching workspaces is now done via Ctrl+Page Up/Down (which is also another way of doing it in web and file browsers).”
Thanks Gottfried, always interesting to watch your videos and see the 2.8 progress.
I’ve been wracking my brain trying to think of any other application that uses Alt-A to deselect. I can’t think of a single one. Perhaps someone could enlighten me?
I’m not seeing how this is an industry standard.
Same here. It’s not super productive, just strangling my hands. I’m not sure what is the point of that shortcut, i think it’s not intuitive at all.
I totally agree with you and I commented with many examples in the post at devtalk:

He said it was a Blender standard (concept) that Alt-Something undoes something not an industry one.
Is there any plans to bring Ctrl+Up to maximize the selected subdivision?
I miss it and consider it essential.
I’m excited for Blender 2.8
Im still learning 2.76b , but hey……its all good…..grin
Thanks for the heads up on the controls.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the standard for using alt is that alt is an ALTernative operation to the normal function of the letter “alted”.
Shift is the opposite, so ctrl-shift-tab goes backwards on tabs instead of foreword. The correct standard version would be to use shift-A to deselect. It would mean changing the add menu to alt-a.
Why go against this sensible standard? I suppose the development team has good reasons, but I can’t imagine them.
I cant figure out how to navigate the view.. ctrl, alt and shift + middle mouse wheel dont work anymore.. is this the change? if thats a change its a pitty… that is a fast way to navigate.. :(
I’m annoyed this doesn’t work as well.

Hai, in Edit Mode what is the substitution for Ctrl+Tab which previously used to change between vertex-edge-face?
1/ 2 /3 as vertex / edge /face
just wanna be able to hotkey workspaces.. like to jump directly to shading for example,
Cycling through workspaces with hotkeys or clicking tabs at the top is incredibly in-efficient.
