You can just insert keyframes for the n-value but in the original video I used an empty to drive the value.
I'm using the Blender 2.8 beta on Windows. Opening the .blend file is extraordinarily slow!
(Taking 3 minutes on my i7-3770K with 24GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce 1080...)
running in debug mode, the single operation that takes ages is the following:
Shader file written to disk: C:\Users\Manohar\AppData\Local\Temp\blender_a11144\
0123.frag
All the other shaders (up to 0128.frag) are lightning quick - it's just 0123 that takes ages!
Similar crippling problem occurs when trying to do anything in the scene - it more or less freezes up for a few minutes. A bug in the way shaders are compiled?
I've heard quite a few people complaining about this.
This seams to be an issue with the newer builds. The best option would be to make a bug report.

thanks a lot for the very detailed tutorial. I'm fascinated by Mandelbrot's maths, but I'm completely new to Blender.
I've followed you tutorial very accurately, but I can't see anything in realtime render (eevee).
Apparently the object is totally transparent.
But let me be more precise.
I've started fiddling with your tutorial and Blender V 2.80 (release, not beta), while your tutorial is using the beta version. Therefore I've thought of some wrong (default) setting I've neglected.
Hence, I decided to download your .blend file and see what was wrong with my setup. Unfortunately I was facing the same issue as Sanjay Manohar: even an operation as simple as opening the file was terribly slow. (I'm on macOS 10.15.2, iMac Pro).
Then I decided to try with the latest Blender's beta, the 2.81.
Apparently it solves the problem of the sluggishness, but I'm back in the same situation as with my setup. In realtime render mode, the object appears to be totally transparent, even with your .blend file.
I can see the dark blue background, I can see the lighting on the floor, but no trace of the bulb.
Do you have any suggestion about what could be the cause?
