According to Mike Pan, Tangent Animation worked on a new Chinese backed feature movie called 'Next Gen'. I'm still waiting for confirmation and further information about this project from Tangent, but I didn't want to keep this fantastic work from you!

I meant buying the rights for $30 Million
Where exactly is the blender context?
:D the whole movie is “blender context”!
Surprising, isn’t it?
There is no Blender context at this point. Apparently, two years ago a Canadian low budget animation studio named Tangent Animation has been working on 2D scene lighting concept art for this movie, along with other studios. Tangent Animation are known to use Blender for their own productions.
The movie itself however was produced in China by a bunch of different Chinese studios, none of which use Blender. So eventually this will turn out to be fake news. And if it gets into the wrong hands, it might backfire terribly and even hurt Blendernation's reputation as a credible news source. It's also going to shine a really bad light on Blender and the community as a whole. So I'm not too happy about what Mike Pan did here.
Can you please source your information? I haven't been able to find that blender wasn't used in this. Only that the studio used blender and cycles to render for the film. Other than I can't find any information on how much of the film they did.
It got confirmed on blenderartists by Tangent Animation. They used Blender, Cycles, Substance Painter, Photoshop, Houdini and Fume FX.
Yes, just a few hours ago. I noticed. I'm glad this is real.
is there a link to the confirmation I can't find it
The fake news would be you. the movie was not done in China, just the backing. The movie was Blender.

This appears to be legit. Jeff Bell, co-founder of Tangent Animation, confirming that Blender was indeed used for all the modelling, rigging and rendering (Cycles) in the movie NextGen.
Texturing: Photoshop, SubstancePainter
Effects: Houdini, Fume FX
