The LuxRender project has been completely rebooted, with a new name, LuxCoreRender, new rendering core, new Blender plugin, new source repository and also a new website, wiki and forums.
A message on the old website (http://www.luxrender.net/) explains why the development team decided for this fresh start:
Why Lux(Core)Render v2.0 ?
Because LuxRender project was dying under the weight of a lot of old abandoned code. All active developers had the strong feeling a fresh start was required. The "Core" between "Lux" and "Render" is there to highlight the new project focus. However the "v2.0" is there to re-mark the continuity with 10 years of development and experience."

This is good news! I thought it was dead since i've heard no news about it in a long while although it's understandable that coding a mature rendering engine takes decades. Anyway, the more rendering options, the better.
Hi Leandro Paganelli
You are an architect also using Blender? Could I chat with you a little about who you use it?

Hi Claas, sure! I'll send you an email.
Great news, I've always liked LuxRender, it was there before Cycles, and is a very nice render engine with beautifully realistic results out of the box with minimal effort. I hope this reboot will be a success!
