The European Space Agency published a render created by the TU Delft Starship Team (DSTART) as their “Technology Image of the Week”.
This render is the result of a design process where Blender was extensively used, from ideation to final visualisation.
Custom python scripts were written to achieve the organic growth structure of the starship's tail. The individual modules differ in composition and function indicated by the color scheme and debossed icons, visible at high magnification.
The asteroid texture and background image originate from publicly available NASA Messenger Mission photos and telescope photos from the European Southern Observatory.
