Rona and the Legend of the Kodiaks -- 2D Animated Short + Behind-The-Scenes

1

Cyan Los writes:

A while back, AV Originals commissioned me to create a short-film length 2D animation for their story, called "Rona: Legend of the Kodiaks". While I’ve animated for other companies before, this was my very first animation of this quality. As a sole animator this was my most ambitious project yet, attempting to complete every phase -- hand-drawn 2D animation, 3D modeling and texturing, compositing, etc. -- and deliver a complete visual feast in a matter of months.

I've used a variety of softwares for this project, such as Blender, OpenToonz, Krita, Synfig and Natron as primary, along with Audacity, gThumb and other utilities to make my life a little easier. Despite a general lack of well-known 2D animation software on it, I completed this entirely on Ubuntu Linux.

I'm a Digital Artist, and I've worked with 2D and 3D, as well as Animation and Graphic Design, for quite some years now. I'm a sucker for good stories, good art and good puns — no matter what the genre. Sometimes I trace and color a catalogue out of what vivifies an ordinary person's spirit, and occasionally throw words into a heated frying pan just to see what that omelette's tastes like.

  1. Well its very good considering its a solo effort but let down by the recording of the voices IMO. Sounded like it was acted in the bathroom but recorded from the hallway or something. Maybe its just me though...
