My, Blender is in GOOD company. Great to see it
That makes me wonder if Nivida will now sponsor a project with Blender to improve/integrate their api?
Nvidia and Blender have been working together for a very long time. It's the reason why GPU rendering through Blender was working and useful with CUDA first and, until recently, was the preferred method for rendering (I would say it's still preferred but from what I hear OpenCL has somewhat caught up). The API was provided to them directly from Nvidia. There is actually a lot of cooperation between the Blender Foundation and big industry names such as Nvidia but it is rarely discussed publicly.
OpenCL definitely caught up. But good to get a refresher on this cooperation, thanks
