[site update] Improved caching

I’ve added another layer of caching to BlenderNation which should result in a noticeable speedup of the site. A Varnish server now caches all pages, which makes delivery for any non-logged in users almost instant. As a result, my main webserver has it a lot easier, which will make any logged in actions faster too. I’m still tweaking it and I might have missed some settings. Please let me know if you feel the site is faster now, and also if there are still any problems I missed.
In combination with the CDN I added earlier this week, this should really make a big difference!

shuttering fast i’m glass i’m glass
yes, it loads pretty quick!
Already with your server change (but with this too perhaps) it’s much faster! Thanks!
hello Bart,
i’ve noticed a little issue with the latest upgrades of the site: the RSS feed is not updated correctly, it lags behind a couple days
i tell you this because i use an RSS aggregator
my best
Thanks for reporting that! I fixed the issue, could you please try again?
Hello Bart,
not updating yet, the last article i see in the RSS reader is: “Blender/Photoscan/Instantmeshes photogrammetry workflow”
Hmm that’s weird – could you check https://www.blendernation.com/feed/ please? I’m 100% sure it’s up to date now.
hello Bart, i see the updated feed using the direct link, but Netvibes reader is still stuck, maybe a Netvibes issue ?!
Could be, I don’t know how netvibes works :)
ok, now it’s updated
